How to change language of Google account using Google website
Steps
- Go to https://myaccount.google.com/
- From the side panel click Data & Personalization
- Scroll down to General preferences for the web or type Ctrl+F and search for language
- Click Language
- Click on the Edit icon
- Search for your language and click on it to select it. Click the Select button. For some languages, you may have to choose a region.
Fix for language change not working
Sometimes even after changing the language, the old language might persist in the UI. This often happens when you revisit the site. Here are a couple of possible solutions.
Solution 1: Change language in Google homepage
Go to the Google homepage. See if your language is shown in the list of offered languages.
Click on your language to choose it, this would prevent cached settings of the homepage from interfering with your personal pages.
Solution 2: Clear browser cache
Another solution is to clear the browser cache. Clearing the entire browser cache will log you out of all websites and you may lose many of your website preferences. So first try to clear only Google’s cookies, clear the entire cache only if that does not work. The steps for clearing cookies and cache is different in different browsers. Clear Google’s cookies
- From Chrome’s menu choose Settings
- In the Privacy and Security section, click Cookies and other site data
- Click See all cookies and site data.
- Search for Google’s cookies.
- Delete all Google cookies.
Clear the whole cache
- From Chrome’s menu choose Settings
- From Privacy and security click Clear browsing data
- Choose a Time range. You might have to select the All time option
- Cookies and other site data is what needs to be deleted. You can uncheck the other items. For more control of what to delete, choose the Advanced tab.
